My mother taught me how to sew. It is a very useful skill. Many years ago I thought to translate that skill into artwork by making picture quilts. I started the first one with intentions to do it all "by hand". Several hours later I decided that hand sewing was way too slow and began using a machine. |

Living in my pueblo was tough, but finding a good job there was close to impossible. My parents were very poor and weren't able to come up with the money needed to pay for my school's tuition. This was a difficult reality for me since I knew that education was the key to better job opportunities. |

Students at the University of Notre Dame came together on April 20, 2012 for the unveiling of "The Shirt 2012" which commemorated 125 years of Notre Dame football. The Shirt Project decided to go with living wage, union made Alta Gracia apparel as their vendor, and we couldn't be happier to have been part of the tradition. |
