Students with the University of Washington's Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) said Monday that clothes made in a third-world clothing factory that pays a living wage have gone on sale at the University Book Store.
The student group is part of a national movement on college campuses that is working to find alternatives to university apparel made in third-world sweatshops.
On Monday, 576 pieces of apparel made by Alta Gracia, a company that pays a living wage in the Dominican Republic, arrived at the store, said Leo Baunach, a UW student and member of SLAP.
The group hopes customers will buy clothes made in factories that pay a living wage.
